Our approach to ensure the safety of all of our students, staff and volunteers in the midst of COVID-19

Greater Iowa Youth For Christ is diligently taking all necessary precautions related to the coronavirus. We take seriously the health and safety of the kids, volunteers, staff and ministry partners across our region who may gather together on behalf of Youth For Christ. We will continue to remain in contact with all who may be affected, supporting their needs in any way we can—most importantly in fervent prayer.

We are continually updating our website with the latest information and encouragement regarding COVID-19. The Youth For Christ staff and leaders are available to answer questions and pray with you. Our faith is in the Lord as He uses all circumstances for good and as we turn to Him at this time.

Current Safety Guidelines (As of 9.02.2020)

As continue face-to-face ministry with young people, this still does not mean we will be immediately going “back to normal”. We will be engaging with a whole new level of concerns and precautions.

Steps we are taking to maintain a safe approach for these shared experiences:

  • Only groups of 25 or less can meet in person.
  • Parents/Guardians of teens in a conversational relationship are pursued to sign the Parent/Guardian Liability and Release Form.
  • The self-Screening protocol remains in-effect for prior to all in-person student contact.
  • All group sizes must maintain proper social distancing (about 2 arms’ length) and can ensure appropriate safety precautions.
  • If schools close due to a Covid-19 outbreak, all in-person ministry for that site will be suspended.
  • If schools close due to community spread of +15% positivity rate (14-day average), in-person ministry of groups of 3 or more will be suspended.
  • Transportation is allowed for 4 or fewer persons in personal vehicles.
  • Hold shared experiences outdoors whenever possible. If you are meeting indoors in public spaces like restaurants, masks are required unless you are practicing social distancing.
  • Using the guideline of 6 feet of separation, appropriate indoor facilities (including YFC facilities) are determined by the number of people that can maintain 6 feet of separation up to 25 person maximum per building.
  • Shared food must be served by only by those who are wearing gloves and masks
  • Leaders and teens will NOT be allowed to participate in gatherings if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms
  • Leaders are required to complete the leader self-screening protocol prior to contact with students.
  • Masks and hand sanitizer available before, during, and after shared experiences.
