COVID-19

Our approach to ensure the safety of all of our students, staff and volunteers in the midst of COVID-19

Greater Iowa Youth For Christ is diligently taking all necessary precautions related to the coronavirus. We take seriously the health and safety of the kids, volunteers, staff and ministry partners across our region who may gather together on behalf of Youth For Christ. We will continue to remain in contact with all who may be affected, supporting their needs in any way we can—most importantly in fervent prayer.

We are continually updating our website with the latest information and encouragement regarding COVID-19. The Youth For Christ staff and leaders are available to answer questions and pray with you. Our faith is in the Lord as He uses all circumstances for good and as we turn to Him at this time.

Current Safety Guidelines (As of 6.17.2020)

Beginning on Tuesday, June 23rd, we will resume face-to-face ministry with young people. However, this does not mean we will be immediately going “back to normal”. We will be engaging with a whole new level of concerns and precautions.

Steps we are taking to maintain a safe approach for these shared experiences:

  • Leaders and teens will NOT be allowed to participate in gatherings if they are experiencing ANY COVID-19 symptoms
  • We will be contacting Parents/Guardians to sign our updated  Parent/Guardian Liability and Release Form.
  • YFC leaders and volunteers will NOT transport students in vehicles. Teens and leaders will transport to the location of the shared experience separately unless traveling together via bikes, walking, etc.
  • Groups of 10 or less can gather as long as they maintain proper social distancing (about 2 arms’ length) and can ensure appropriate safety precautions. In settings where other groups of people are present, YFC leaders and students should practice social distancing from other groups.
  • Hold shared experiences outdoors whenever possible. If you are meeting indoors in public spaces like restaurants, masks are required unless you are practicing social distancing.
  • YFC facilities are not to be used at this time.
  • Leaders are required to complete the leader self-screening protocol prior to contact with students.
  • Make masks and hand sanitizer available before, during, and after shared experiences.
  • We will continue to follow the health department’s lead on any quarantines, closures, or other health measures needed. All ministry will be in compliance with all local, state, and federal restrictions.
